She's mad, but she's magic. There's no lie in her fire.
-Charles Bukowski
“I was born in the wagon of a travelling show….”
Okay… not really. But I’ve always wished I was. Wanderlust, a fascination with shiny things, a love of flowing, fringed garments and living just outside of the status quo… I’m either part fairy, or part magpie.
I picked up beadwork for the first time over 30 years ago. In that time, my artistic travels have taken me through needlework, ceramics, quilting, knitting and crochet, costume design, henna art and so much more…but I always come back to those tiny fragments of glass and stone, color and light.
Every piece in my shop is made by hand, by me. Beads are woven on strong nylon thread, strung on flexible cables, or wrapped with metal wire. Floral pieces are built to last through years of enthusiastic wear. Henna pieces (except drums) are sealed for permanence and beauty.
Every artwork is one-of a kind...there may be multiple pieces in a series , but there are never duplicates.
I am a strong believer that we make our own occasions, and that every single day is cause for dressing up and celebrating something.... I am deeply fascinated with how we ornament ourselves, and I strive to create pieces that will be favorites...the necklace you reach for over and over again, the earrings that make every day feel special, or the twirly, flouncy skirt that makes you feel like a fairy princess.
I believe that within each of us is a character that is yearning to come out and play, or a story that we are aching to tell. It is my fondest hope that my creations will help you to tell yours.
I live in a tiny cottage with my supportive, equally eccentric husband, our two cats and an embarrassing number of books.
